Signs of infection in naval piercings?

-I got mine done 3 days ago... It's starting to be a little red at the top. Mind you, I have a toddler so it accidentally gets bumped pretty frequently. I also woke up to dried blood at the bottom? It was hurting all night last night. I know most of this is normal but can someone tell me signs of infection so i can be watching out for them? Thanks.It will bleed for a while since it's still new.



I had mine done years ago, and usually yellow pus is the first sign of an infection. Being swollen, sore to the touch, and redness is also a sign.



Just remember to do sea salt baths 3-5 times a day, and use antibacterial soap.



With a little one, you have to keep him away from your piercing. Any kicking, rubbing, or interaction with the piercing can cause infection and delay healing for quite a while. Normally, it takes 6 months for a belly button piercing to heal. Sometimes it may take over a year. Usually the sea salt baths helps with the infection, but if it's too severe then you will need to see a doctor.



Don't forget, a body can also reject the piercing.There are 3 signs of infection

1. Redness

2. Warm to the touch

3. Yellow/green liquid usually with an odor

If you have ALL THREE signs see your doctor or piercer
Its a wound with a foreign body embedded in it so most get infected;
