Thinking about getting my tongue pierced?

-i'm thinking about getting my tongue pierced this weekend, i've wanted to get it for awhile but i've always either chickened out or not had the money.

the main thing that's worrying me is the swelling, do they tend to swell up a lot? could it swell up so much that it makes it hard to breathe? that might sound like a stupid question but i worry too much haha. also can you get a permanent lisp from tongue piercings or will it go away once the swelling has gone down and you've gotten used to talking with a piece of metal in your mouth?

does anyone who has had theyre tongue pierced have any tips for keeping swelling down and foods to eat once its pierced?

thanks! xI actually just had mine done about a month ago. If you have a good artist it really wont hurt. The guy that did mine was really good and it was over b4 I knew it. The swelling isnt that bad for the first day but when you wake up the next morning it is pretty swollen and then it will be like that for a few days. To keep the swelling down dont play with it, keep a cup of ice next to you and let the ice chips melt in your mouth, eat stuff like pudding and jello. If your like me you will get tired of eating bs food and want real food, just make sure you chop it up really well. I got used to mine and started talking normal again in about 4 days. Now as far as smoking is concerned, I had a cigarette as soon as I got out to my car after having it done. The guy that did mine said that he had been doing piercings for 20+ years and never heard anything bad about smoking afterwords. Hope this was helpful!yes it swells up alot and you will sound like an idiot trying to talk for the first few days but not to the point where it is hard to breathe. Chew on lots of ice chips and make sure to follow the instructions carefully from the shop. Dont take asprin or drink alcohol, dont smoke, and no food products that contain yeast. And I dont care what anyone says, that was the most painful piercing for me, and I have 4.
Don't get your tongue pierced. It's probably a pain in the ***.
Iv had mine done now for 4 years. Mine swelled up alittle when i first had it done but thats normal seen as youv had a needle pushed through it! I wouldnt say it was so bad i couldnt talk or eat but was alittle uncomfortable for awhile. I sticked too soup for the first few days and foods like that. Was quite weird for acouple of days eating with a metal bar in your mouth but you get used too it! For the lisp part, it has gave me a little bit of one but when i take it out its even worse! Like anything you will get use to it:) just make sure you clean it regular with the wash they give you and make sure not to keep touching it as it could get infected and dont go changing the bar they give you until it is completely healed. I dont know about the part smoking as i do not smoke:) hope this helped!!

Sucking on icecubes can also help the swelling afterwards!
