-This might be a weird question, but it is for an experiment. I need to make a small incision on my cheek for an experiment that me and a few friends have been doing for a long time. I do not want anything to go wrong, and I do want to clean up the wound afterwords. I have cleaned the knife that I believe I shall be using, but are there any more safety precautions that I should take before doing this, and anything special that I should do afterwords? Please do not tell me not to do it or anything because I'm going to no matter what, I just want to know the BEST way to do it without causing injury, or if there is a spot I shouldn't touch. Thank you.First, its a bad idea but since you don't care and will do it anyway here is your answer: If you can do it anywhere on your face pick somewhere that will be less noticeable because it will probably scar. Along your jaw bone or near your hairline may be good places, not like the middle of your cheek or a Harry Potter lightning bolt. Disinfect the knife with alcohol, make sure it is very sharp. Don't cut any deeper than you have to and make sure you have bandages ready ahead of time. you will want butterfly bandages or steri-strips to hold the edges of the wound together. Using clean gauze, apply pressure until the wound stops bleeding. Next apply antibiotic ointment to the cut, then butterfly it closed, cover with a bandaid. Change the bandaid as needed but leave the butterfly bandages on as long as you can, they hold the skin together and since they are nonabsorbent will not get gross. That is not safe however you do it. Trust me, it's very, very dangerous. Don't do it. What do you plan to learn from this "experiment"? It will leave a cut that could get infected and might scar you. I hope you'll do the right thing. Best of luck, ATL girl
PLEASE don't do this. The cheek is a very sensitive and dangerous area. If you don't want anything to go wrong, DON'T do it! Also, there is no way to do it without injury - you're slicing your skin open!): There are many well-hidden, yet important veins, arteries, and glands in the cheek and one slip could cause major damage. Plus if you slip when you're cutting (if you laugh, your hand slips, etc.) you could cut very deeply and have to get stitches, along with damaging the things in your cheek I mentioned earlier. It would be very vulnerable to infection as well. Also, it will most likely leave an ugly scar, which will probably stay with you for a long time, and remind you how dumb of a choice this was. It's too dangerous. Sorry this isn't the answer you wanted, but it's simply not worth it for a dumb experiment. Please make the right decision. :)
