I want to get my belly button pierced but can I swim ?

-I might go to flordia around august 19th but I might get my belly button pierced this weekend july 26th will I be able to swim? How long do you have to wait befor you can? And if it's too soon if I swim anyway and clean it after will it be ok?I swam in mine at the lake and it actually helped heal mine fast(I had a red bump at the bottom hole) it went away an the skin looked better... I swam in mine at about a month... Just was it with antibacterial soap rift after and pay it dry you should be fineWell, it is RECOMMENDED that you wait a month or more if you really need to swim (told to wait until completely done healing). I just got mine pierced and I asked the same question. The salt in the sea is great for the healing process BUT there is A LOT of bacteria in the ocean which is just asking for a nasty infection. you could try to apply a large waterproof adhesive bandage over the new piercing and that could help keep it clean and not get wet. But in my honest opinion, I would just get it pierced after going to FL because it will also probably look red and stuff and possibly unattractive. Hope I could help! (: good luck!
As long as you wait two weeks after getting it done before swimming or completely soaking it in water you will be fine. Just cleanse it with a saline or peroxide solution everyday until it's fully healed. If you need any other advice or help, feel free to email me... taylor.labrecque14@yahoo.com
You should wait 2-4 weeks before swimming after getting your belly button pierced. If you do swim you should clean it with antibacterial hand soap and salt water immediately after swimming. Just to be safe I would wait or get it pierced after the summer.
